— Why maintenance matters

Why Hair System Maintenance Matters

It is rarely the Hair system itself that gives a hair replacement away. It is lifted edges, product build up, or overgrown natural hair around the base that break the illusion. A system that is properly maintained looks exactly as natural on month four as it did on day one, which is the entire point of choosing a hair system over a cheaper, mail order alternative in the first place.

Maintenance also protects your scalp, not just the system. Adhesive left in place too long can irritate the skin underneath, and a base that is never cleaned properly can hold onto sweat, oil and product residue, which shortens the life of the hair itself. This is why visits are scheduled on a routine, rather than booked only once something already looks or feels wrong.

How Often You Will Need a Hair System Maintenance Visit

Most clients at our London studio come in every four to six weeks. Where you land in that range depends mainly on your base type. Full lace is the most delicate of the three bases and tends to need earlier attention, while thin skin and monofilament generally hold up longer between visits. How active your lifestyle is matters too, since sweat, swimming and frequent washing all wear a bond down faster than a quieter routine would.

Your first maintenance date is set at your original fitting, then adjusted from there once we see how your particular system is wearing. Some clients settle into a shorter four week cycle, others comfortably stretch to six, and that schedule can shift again over time as the system ages.

Base Type
Typical Interval
Why
Full Lace
Every 4 weeks
The most delicate weave, so the bond and edges need earlier attention.
Thin Skin (PU)
Every 5 to 6 weeks
More resistant to moisture and everyday wear than lace.
Monofilament
Every 5 to 6 weeks
The most durable of the three, though density still affects breathability and wear.

£ 60

Ongoing maintenance runs £60 to £100 per visit, depending on your plan and how much work the appointment needs.
